1ainktestpageEveryone that might have been wondering about how good your ink is against other inks. Will your pen and or Ink hold up to a forger and some of their tricks they use to get more money out of your account. Enter a Inks and Pens Test from June 2005. On this page you will get a nicely done test to see how well these inks held up to what a forger would use to erase your bank account.

They used Many brands of ink for their test (I will try to list the names of what I can see on the page. To test the inks they soaked the page for 20 mins at a time in each of the chemicals (Water, acetone, naphta, bleach, ammonia, blue magic, industrial cleaners and chemical lifters) with a water rinse between each of the soakings.

The pens I see they used were: Sharpie Permanent Marker, Pelikan Roller, Tetra Liquid Ink - Pentel, Hechter Ink, Noodler’s Black, Beifa Tank Pen - Ink Roller Permanent Ink 0.5, Generic Ballpen from Taiwan, Permanent Generic Marker, Diplomat Roller Ball, Sheaffer Roller Ball, Parker Roller Ball, Parker Ball Pen, Parker Ball Pen, Bic Ball Pen, Skies of Blue, Cardinal Red, Rotring, Mont Blanc, DC Super Show Blue, Parker Ruby, Sherwood Green, Parker Saphire, Pelikan Blue, Aurora Black, and Aurora Blue.

The only ink that didn’t run or dissapear during the test is Noodler’s Black. This is why I love my Noodler’s Black ink. I mentioned before I believe that in my Waterman Phileas and Lamy I have Noodler’s Black loaded and ready to right. I have read the documentation on Noodler’s site about how they will not be erased once written with and this test proofs this with out a doubt.

Check out the after image and really see what happened. Quite interesting. As I mentioned the only ink that was really there was Noodler’s and some of the others are a ghost of an image and others were totally gone.

I have to say Great job on this test. Keep up the good work.

When I went to Las Vegas last year I got to see a spray paint artist very much like this person. Extremely good and fun to watch. He was located in Downtown on Freemont street selling his paintings.

The Fountain Pen magical touch.

fountainpenI love using my fountain pens. I will take it with me most places so I can use it. To carry it around I use the Levenger’s international shirt pocket office and my Waterman Phileas fountain pen slides into the soft leather inner pocket as if it was made to hold this one pen. I don’t know about you but I agree with June Lemen that writing with a fountain pen is Magic. I believe it lets my creative juices flow. My fountain pen is my muse. June’s article at Nashua Telegraph states how she often gets funny looks and little children come up and ask her what she is doing. It is a fun and short read about that her pen has the Magic Touch.

The Scribbler - Cool Flash Drawing Tool

The Scribbler - A very cool drawing tool - This will take a simple drawing you can do with your mouse and covert it into a “Work of Art” - If you use the settings you are able to control it pretty well. You can control the detail, size of line and more.

The sample sketch I did I set my line width to 14 and set some transparency. This process only took a couple of mins. If you have a drawing tablet you would be able to sketch even better and have even better works of art. Make sure to check out the Gallery on this page as some of the Scribbles Created are very good. I was amazed at some of the detail that was produced and interesting works.

Main thing is to have some fun. Isn’t that was drawing is all about.

Miquelrius or Moleskine?

MiquelriusWell - I love journalling and sketching.

So, I have bought a several smaller notebooks such as the Moleskine and the Miquelrius notebooks to try out. After 1 year or so of writing in them I think I have to say I love the look and feel of the Miquelrius notebook. First I love the soft flexable cover - A very leather like or Moleskine type feel but not made of hard cardboard but can be folded back on itself.

But For Mine I hacked it and designed a leather cover to house and protect it. It is designed to hold the front and back cover and has a flap that holds in and then closes it up and even has room for my favorite fountain pen on the end. (I promise to take some photos of it and post it) it is a little too hard to describe
I have to admin I love the graph paper rules on the pages and the paper hold the ink from my fountain pens (I use noodlers black ink) and it will not show thru on the other side. I find the Lamy Safari w Extra Fine Nib is wonderful on this paper. I just gives me a good feeling as I work and design using this notebook.

Below are a few links to some comparisons and info on this Notebook.
